Default HDX and Thunderbolt

We will be upgrading 2 of our HD 3 systems to HDX.

One of our MacPros will not run in the 64bit mode so we will need to replace it because several of our software packages will only run on Lion in 64 bit mode.

We need to purchase either a new MacPro, IMAC or MAc Book Pro to replace it.

Is there going to be support for ThunderBolt with the Magna Thunderbolt chassis with PT HDX?

We will need this information in order to determine which computer to upgrade to.

Please help -ASAP
Thank You

Be smart. Go with a MacPro. Thunderbolt is quite a ways off.

And for those who think it's just around the corner, here, after having on millions of computers for the last 6 months is what you can get...or Apple says you can get....but most aren't ready.

Display
Apple Thunderbolt Display

Storage
Promise Pegasus R4 and Pegasus R6
LaCie Little Big Disk
Sonnet Fusion RAID

Video Capture
Blackmagic UltraStudio 3D
Matrox MX02
Adapters
Promise SAN Link Fibre Channel adapter
Sonnet Allegro FireWire 800 adapter
Sonnet Presto Gigabit Ethernet adapter

It's going to be a very slow transition to TB. ESPECIALLY for Avid

How innovative. About as useful as a USB 1.1 PCIe card.

Also, in case you didn't know, HDX cards require a Mac Pro that is 2009 (Nehalem) or later. I don't know what Mac Pros you have there.

As has been noted several times on this forum already this week, the official word regarding the incompatibility of HDX with anything less than a Nehalem Mac Pro came from Max Gutnik. Please see his post, #234, from this thread over on Gearslutz: http://www.gearslutz.com/board/aes-2...upgrade-8.html

The 2009 requirement was also mentioned by Avid reps in the live webchat at AES.

It's come from multiple sources. They may not have updated all the website information yet, but everything's pointing to the 2009 or later being the requirement.
