Default Thinking of buying a control surface...

As the topic already states, I'm thinking of buying a control surface for my Digi002r.

Currently, there are 2 in particular that catch my attention:
Digidesign's Command 8 and Mackie's Universal Control.

Any thoughts / tips on wich kind of console, or things to keep in mind, are very welcome
Alternatives are also welcome ofcourse.

Or... if someone's selling theirs at reasonable a price...
(I live in Belgium => 220 / 230 volt)

My other specs are:
MacG5 dual 2GHz
2GB Ram
PT 7.1
OSX 10.4.5 (no problems so far...)

Cheerz!

Love my MCU. Much more solid feeling than the command 8.

while it's not in the league of the 2 you mention, I find that the Behringer BCF2000 to be pretty useful. You set it up in BabyHUI mode and it seems to work fine. i can control all the main functions, Play, record enable, record, forward, rewind, mute, sole, etc. All I really wanted it for was to keep from switching back and forth from the edit to the mix window to change a level with the mouse (is there anything worse than using a mouse for mixing?!) and it does that just fine.

I mainly do audiobooks (some with music and fx), voiceover work and commercials so I don't have quite the same track count as other folks here, so moving 8 faders plus the master is fine for me. plus for $200 it's pretty hard to beat.

I really like using my DM1000 as a control surface. I get the benefits of having the functions of a mixing console married to a control surface.
