Before buying a Control 24 we need to solve some doubts...
Hello All.
We are newbies in these forums (but not in the world of audio) and we have some doubts that, due to the non-supported status of Control 24, we can’t find online help about. We hope that someone finds him/herself in a similar case and can help us before buying some gear!! We’ve been a lot of time with an ASUS PC Windows XP, Cubase SX and an EMU-1820 as audio interface. We’ve jumped onto a Mac Pro (2010, QuadCore, 16 GB RAM) with Mac OsX 10.6.4 and Pro Tools 10 native. The main sound card is a MOTU 2408MKIII connected through a PCI-424 card, and as a secondary card a MOTU 1224 also connected via the PCI-424. We have been offered a Control 24 and we have investigated some here and there, and obtained the conclusion that although it is a non-supported product it could be possible that it would work with Pro Tools 10 native and eventually without main problems. Now, and here is the question: do we need an AVID or (Digidesign) certified interface in order to have all the functionality of the Control 24?? Or we can just connect to our Mac Pro without any extra interface?? Sorry if the question may appear stupid, or has been answered a zillion times…It’s just that the Control 24 appears to be in a good condition and it’s always a pleasure to work with a control surface instead of mouse & keyboard. Thank you in advance. |

No Avid interface needed! It will work with any sound card or even the built in audio. Just needs Ethernet connection and thats it. Only works with pro tools of course and it might not work with/when pro tools 11 is released. Chris

We've bought Prot Tools 10 native... we hope that Control 24 will work without problems with Pro Tools 10 native, ... as we are almost up to buy the Control 24 next saturday.... We know it will not work after Pro Tools 11 but...hey....we've been more than 8 years with Windows XP SP2 and Cubase SX3 on a "tuned" ASUS PC.....so I guess that with a MacPro of 2010, 16 GB of RAM and Pro Tools 10 native, if the Control 24 works OK, we can stuck with it for some years... Unless Pro Tools 11 makes the mixes by itself, nahahahahaha....in that case, we will reconsider the option of getting rid of the Control 24. |

You will love it. its a great addition to any studio in need of a quality control surface. There was a time not many years ago these cost as much as a cheap car. Thankfully these have come down quit a bit like 85 percent less than the original price. A true bargain IMHO
