Default Analog hookup of PR-8 MKII

I just got my MKII 8 channel pre today. I tried hooking it up on my 001 via a 1/4" cable into the inputs. I plugged it into input 3 (which is also titled 'monitor input L') and when i hit the monitor mode button off, my signal also stopped. I then hooked it up to input 5 and it worked. How do i work around that problem? i want to utilize all 8 channels on my 001. i was planning on hooking it up with 1/4" cables until i found another $100 to get the optical card for it. any suggestions??

Mark

I'm not sure if you got this up and running yet but, I just bought one of these to try out and I hooked it up via the 1/4 inch outputs using TRS balanced cables and it worked fine. I was actually surprised at how clean this unit actually was. You can turn the gain all the way up and no hiss. I tried the behringer and it had more hiss as well as I along with everybody else worry about what your getting from behringer.. I have the Digimax on the way but I know it has a dynamic range of 16db more than this so I can only assume how sweet it will sound. But for anybody on a budget who needs a clean cheap reliable pre, this is the way to go(buy from american musical and they even throw in an extra year on the warranty. This is not an endorsment I just noticed it on thier site)
If your curious why I tried these, I'm always looking for something better for cheaper. In the long run though the Digimax is going to suite my needs when I move up my studio to a pro system next year. Can't beat the Class A pre's. Anyway if you can't get the standard 1/4 to work then try a 1/4 TRS, and if that doesn't work you probably have a bad unit.
