PT First is basically a 16 track digital recorder which is for learning the basics as well as recording demo type stuff, using loops, the basic Instruments, MIDI tracks and live inputs. It's not a complete workstation by any stretch of the imagination. Think of it as a glorified tape recorder with digital editing and you will be able to get out everything you put in.

Thanks for your reply's!

1) If i purchase the subscription to full Pro Tools will it include extra plugins like distortion, or will i have to purchase them separately from the Avid Marketplace?

2) If i purchase plugins from the Avid Marketplace will they work on Pro Tools First, or only on Pro Tools full subscription?

3) I know this sounds strange but would it be possible to sample my own sounds and incorporate them to a voice recording on Pro Tools First?
For example recording outside noises and using them as an effect on my vocal recording? If so, how would you go about doing that?

Thanks again!

Plugins included with purchase/subscription: http://www.avid.com/pro-tools/included-plug-ins
If you get them through PT First they should work in first and native and hd also
Any DAW including PT first has a mixer at its heart which means you combine different tracks together, usually to a stereo output. in order for one sound to affect another takes something like sidechaining which you can youtube to get an idea of how to do

If he was to purchase the Avid Complete Plugin Bundle for $49.99 a year, would that work with PT first?

I only ask cause that would be a low cost solution to his problem plus he would have all but 2 of the plugins that Avid has to offer and $49.99 a year is really not a bad price for any manufacturer's plugins of this size.

I'm honestly not sure. I just know that you are supposed to be able to go to the app store from protools drop down menu(since you are already logged in) and purchase whatever they decide to put in that link. I would have to boot up first and check to see if all my avid plugins show up, but I have to take all non avids out of the plug in file temporarily or I have to spend 10 minutes hitting the skip/quit prompts for every single plug in that isn't supported. Plus the ones that are supported but the licenses are on my Ilok so those too. I don't use first except when I take my laptop and a two input interface somewhere to record where I don't want to lose my Ilok . So not often. I'll try to remember to check but best not to wait on me.
