Well that makes 3 of us. I'd prefer SC format to akai, only as it seems that the akai to SC conversion isn't perfect with Osmosis yet.
FWIW, Bob Grey of Greytsounds is auctioning 5 SC CD ROMS on ebay - just search Samplecell and you'll see it. It seems like a great deal - for a very small investment. I think its going for $149 for all 5 CD ROMS - demos of each of the CDs are on the SSC demo CD. |

Re: Are there any great piano samples for SampleCell II?
My studio has a Yamaha CIIIF which is great for recording. There was a time when we needed to extend a song by one bar but couldn't rerecord the Yamaha. Instead I used a piano sample from the Digidesign disk that was included with SCII (there were a few different sets depending on when you bought - this one is a double set packed into on folding sleeve) and just added the new notes. With a bit of FilterBank EQ it became almost impossible to tell the difference, even with headphones. For those who care I used the 26 meg soft piano BANK. If you have this disk give it a try - not good for forte playing though...

Oh yeah, and the William Coakley stuff sounds really good, too. I've talked to him twice about recording piano - he seems very knowledgeable and experienced and really dedicates himself to his projects. I don't own a copy but wish I did. You could listen to his demos but beware of the unnecessary accompaniment that floods out the piano sound.

Check out the Unity DS-1 Black & Whites.
You don't need to buy the full program. It's just about $150 and it sounds great with direct connect. Although I'd recommend at least a G4
