Default Avid repair cost

So my 11r has started to have the clock issue / no sound.
It let me down on a gig recently.
So I called Avid tech support, only to find out its gonna
cost me $425 to have repaired.
Seems a little steep. Thoughts?

Given that "repair" is probably done as a board exchange (or possibly a whole new or refurbished unit), that doesn't seem out of line. If the repair comes with a fresh warranty, so much the better.

wow, thats steep considering you can buy used 11R's (non ERXP) for about that price.

I guess your 11R is out of warranty?

If you don't currently have PT10 and want it, it would be cheaper for you to just buy a new Eleven Rack - you can usually find them on eBay for $699 - $750 - New, from authorized Avid re-sellers. That includes the ERXP, PT10, a new iLok and of course a standard warranty

Isn't the clock problem caused by a couple of cheap capacitors that they inadequately screen tested during production?

$425! $425.

I had the same scenario, mine had been in use over a year when the 44.1 issue showed up. I had the same cost quoted to me and while I was trying to figure out where I was going to dig up an extra $425, I recieved a survey from Avid about my recent issue. My response to the survey was BRUTALLY honest and within a week I recieved a offer to fix my 11Rack at no cost. My faith in Avid (as well as my 11R) are now fully restored.
