This made me laugh... I had a thought that not only should we be obsessing over which monitors we need to buy to simulate your average crappy real world listening situations (you know, the white cones and the little square boxes), but we should always make sure that we check with the de-wax and the re-wax filters, too, before declaring a mix complete..

Actually I'm sure there will soon be a series of Wave Signature plugins simulating the audio damage of some famous producers.

First it was "The Board" now you can have "The Ears".

Is it possible to put hardware EQ's across your monitors that compensate for dips in frequencies that we hear, so in a way balancing out our ears... whilst at the same time because they are hardware, not having any effect on the mix sessions?

They already did this with the Eleven Rack.

If you scroll through to the Pete Townshend preset, you will notice that it will not activate until you have downloaded and installed the Keith Moon TNT Impulse Response (which you can down load here @ 4:25ish).

Once installed, you are required to listen to the Impulse Response through headphones, at full volume.

Flying shards of cymbal are optional thankfully.

You EQtip your ears when you use them in the inner ear canal.

Using Q-Tips stuffs wax further into your ear. You should never put it in the inner ear canal to clean your ears, it affect your hearing and your perception of high frequencies that does not repair itself.

I basically ruined my left ear this way many years ago, by scrubbing my left ear cannal too hard, it irritated my eardrum. I checked with my audioligist and tested, can hear up to 13khz on my left ear and 16 khz on my right ear.

My left ear is also -2.4DB less sensitive than my right ear for 1-4k frequencncy range.

ALWAYS gently apply in the outer canal, never the inner canal, wax naturally removed dirt and particles from the ear, using a Qtip to remove it is basically lodging dirt and particles furthur into your ear canal. (ears clean themselves naturally). The Hardened wax you stuff into your ear with Qtips deteriorates and leaves dead skin cells, dirt, particles, and dry blood lodged in your ear. This increases your changed of ear infection too.

It is safer and hygienic to use a clean soft cloth on your finger to wipe your ear.

Haha! Just a few months ago I noticed differences in the response of my ears in the shower.
