Anyone have the Black Lion Audio mod for their Avid HD I/O?
I just shipped my 16x16 to Black Lion today for the Signature mod. Anyone else have it?

This guy posted on Gearslutz. He has five HD IO 16x16's. Had one modded, and now he's having the rest done because he loves it so much.
Here's the page, his post starts at post #9 (you may want to read from the top of the page for context): http://www.gearslutz.com/board/high-...ml#post8429574 |

I have my 16X 16 with a BLA mod - Fantastic mod but I had to wait several weeks longer than BLA promised.
I highly recommend it! |

I just started using it with my Omni, and it does make a slight difference in the sound compared to the internal clock when recording vocals. The difference is not huge but it is noticable. I get a bit wider, clearer and more detailed sound when recording with the MK2. |

Re: Anyone have the Black Lion Audio mod for their Avid HD I/O?
There is an article ( very good actually ) in Sound On Sound where it shows clearly that clocking from an external device had a point 15 years ago but not nowadays, on the contrary as a matter of fact.
"Overall, it should be clear from these tests that employing an external master clock cannot and will not improve the sound quality of a digital audio system. It might change it, and subjectively that change might be preferred, but it won’t change things for the better in any technical sense. A-D conversion performance will not improve: the best that can be hoped for is that the A-D conversion won’t become significantly degraded. In most cases, the technical performance will actually become worse, albeit only marginally so." http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jun1...sterclocks.htm
