Default i5 Quad Core system, Error Msgs 9093 9094 and 6086...any help welcomed.

Hi guys,

New here and to Pro Tools. I recently purchased an Mbox Mini 2 that came packaged with Pro Tools 8. (I updated to 8.1)

I have followed Digidesigns steps to make sure my system is optimized for pro tools eg. Disabled usb power management...display performance etc.

When I first installed the program and went to record/playback I received the following:

"The operating system held off interrupts for too long. If this occurs frequently, try increasing the H/W Buffer Size" in the Playback engine panel (-6086)

After a TON of reading on this forums I found out that I had to disable certain power save features on my motherboard for my CPU.

I disabled the following:

CPU Ration Setting: Auto
C1E Support: Enabled
Hardware Prefetcher: Enabled
Adjacent Cache Line Prefetcher: Enabled
Max CPUID Value Limit: Disabled (Factory set disabled)
Intel Virtualization Tech: Disabled
Intel SpeedStep: Disabled
Intel TurboeMode Tech: Disabled
Intel C-STATE: Disabled

Rebooted the system and viola 6086 errors gone. However, after doing some testing, recording/playback, I receive error 9094 or 9093...

I just built this computer specifically for pro tools, what gives? I am lost

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you.

SiSoftware Sandra

One step that you seem to have missed is the one that requires a separate phisical drive for your sessions.

Second what Tom said, a partitioned system drive doesn't constitute a SEPARATE dedicated audio drove.

thanks for the quick replies guys... so do you think a separate internal SATA drive will do the trick?

Try disabling C1E as that has been known to cause issues wth PT

After that you might try locking the CPU ratio.

I would look into a WD or Seagate drive with 32MB cache for your audio drive.

thank you... I tried disabling C1E to no avail.

Thanks for the recommendation on the hdd. Question though before I go and spend more money I don't have.. is the partitioned drive the likely cause of the errors I am receiving? I have been reading a lot on these forums before I posted and I have read that a new seperate hdd doesn't always solve the issue. Yes, I know (again from my reading) that digi specifies a seperate hdd for audio, like I said, money is tight, just want to make sure.

Sidenote, I am thinking of downgrading to 7.3 as my friend is running it and has had no issues whatsoever, good idea? bad idea? thank you.

USB drives are not supported and are known to be problematic, so please do not use them with Pro Tools. If you're recording or playing back from a USB drive and are getting errors in Pro Tools, please switch to using a compatible external firewire drive or internal SATA/ATA/IDE drive and disconnect the USB drive.

Pro Tools supports recording and playback to a secondary drive that meets the following requirements:

7200 rpm or faster
9ms seek time or faster

Definitely COULD be but then again not neccessarily! I guess the point is you need to meet the requirements to run Pro Tools before you can really start troubleshooting. It IS possible to record to the system drive. I've actually had luck with that on a laptop but it's far from ideal. With a new pc, make sure you take baby steps as far as installing software/drivers. Download the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website and don't install anything you don't need for Pro Tools - at least until you get PT running properly. Then as you add things, if there's a problem at some point you'll know what's causing the conflict.

There's no reason you shouldn't be able to run 8.x once you get your system up to specs.
