Default "Track could not be record enabled because..."

I am a newbie pro tools 11 user & I cannot record any tracks because I get the following message:
"Track could not be record enabled because it doesn't have an active input and output assigned."

I've set my playback engine to my HW: Quad-Capture
I've tried to default my input & output settings, to no avail.
I don't see how to map the inputs & outputs to my Quad Capture (though both the input & output show "Quadcapture" at the top of screen box).
I guess I don't understand how the I/O functions & I never had this problem with PT8LE.
I've read multiple existing threads on this topic with no luck.

Thanks for your help as always.

The track needs an active Input and Output (look in mix window or have I/O showing in the edit window) This is required.

I think I figured it out. I opened an old session from PT 8 & I cannot record on the old PT 8 tracks but I can record if I add new tracks.

As Drew said you need to have an Input and Output assigned on your track(s). Can you post a screenshot of your tracks in the Mix window?

With the 8 session open, go to the I/O setup window and hit Default. That'll "connect" that session with your current hardware.
