MTRX IO Delays
Greetings,
This is a work in progress, however I wanted to start in on the discussion of patching different types of IO into MTRX family devices and determining the appropriate delay values. Here's the start of that. Please note that all of the Digi Delay values being used here are 7 samples - which is the default when you have the monitor section (Pro|Mon) enabled on MTRX with a monitor profile loaded. We can discuss more on that - but for now I would always recommend using the 7 sample value for consistency. Hopefully this will be a helpful starting place before we can get some of this put into an article on the Avid Knowledge Base. [MTRX Studio] 44.1kHz: MTRX Studio: AD -> DA, Hardware Insert Delay = 1.27ms 44.1kHz: MTRX Studio: ADAT -> ADAT, Hardware Insert Delay = 0.18ms 44.1kHz: MTRX Studio: Dante -> Dante, Hardware Insert Delay = 0.17ms 44.1kHz: MTRX Studio: Dante -> AVIO (AES) -> Dante, Hardware Insert Delay = 5.39ms 48kHz: MTRX Studio: AD -> DA, Hardware Insert Delay = 1.18ms 48kHz: MTRX Studio: ADAT -> ADAT, Hardware Insert Delay = 0.16ms 48kHz: MTRX Studio: Dante -> Dante, Hardware Insert Delay = 0.16ms 48kHz: MTRX Studio: Dante -> AVIO (AES) -> Dante, Hardware Insert Delay = 5.13ms 88.2kHz: MTRX Studio: AD -> DA, Hardware Insert Delay = 0.62ms 88.2kHz: MTRX Studio: ADAT -> ADAT, Hardware Insert Delay = 0.09ms 88.2kHz: MTRX Studio: Dante -> Dante, Hardware Insert Delay = 0.08ms 88.2kHz: MTRX Studio: Dante -> AVIO (AES) -> Dante, Hardware Insert Delay = 3.68ms 96kHz: MTRX Studio: AD -> DA, Hardware Insert Delay = 0.57ms 96kHz: MTRX Studio: ADAT -> ADAT, Hardware Insert Delay = 0.08ms 96kHz: MTRX Studio: Dante -> Dante, Hardware Insert Delay = 0.07ms 96kHz: MTRX Studio: Dante -> AVIO (AES) -> Dante, Hardware Insert Delay = 3.6ms Ferrofish Pulse 16 for analog expansion via ADAT -> DA + DA -> ADAT 44.1kHz: MTRX Studio: ADAT AD DA, Hardware Insert Delay = 0.75ms 48kHz: MTRX Studio: ADAT AD DA, Hardware Insert Delay = 0.70ms 88.2kHz: MTRX Studio: ADAT AD DA, Hardware Insert Delay = 0.37ms 96kHz: MTRX Studio: ADAT AD DA, Hardware Insert Delay = 0.34ms 96kHz: MTRX Studio Dante -> MTRX Dante -> MTRX Studio = 2.18ms 96kHz: MTRX ST -> MTRX -> DA AD -> MTRX ST = 2.75ms The last 2 here are somewhat experimental but show how to patch in an analog compressor connected to MTRX in another room uplinked via Dante. Re: MTRX IO Delays
Do these apply both to the MTRX and MTRX Studio?

Re: MTRX IO Delays
Thanks for this Jeff.
It would be very, very helpful for this to be automatically calculated, or for there to be a roundtrip 'ping' type plugin (like the IO plugin in Logic) to save a lot of faffing about.
