Re: ProControl reactions with PT 6.1 are slower
Installed 6.1 here today .... couldn't resist anymore. Guess I got lucky. Everything is working just fine over here. no slow reactions whatsoever.

Re: ProControl reactions with PT 6.1 are slower
It's getting worse and worse for me! Digidesign fix this now! You actually sell this thing for 10 grand, remember? All of us that bought this gave you the money to develop the new pro control that's gonna make this thing worthless. Wait, it already is!
We need an update now. |

Re: ProControl reactions with PT 6.1 are slower
Hey Uno1234,
It's not the SloControl to blame, it's about PT 6.1 and OSX......... And if things start to get worse than what is described in this thread, try thrashing some digi and DAE preferences. In my case as I updated to 6.1 there where some leftovers from 6.01 in the preferences...have a look... And digi ???... ain't it possible to make an OS9 version of PT 6.1 ? What is so special about PT 6.1 that it can't run on OS9? Ever since OSX i have experienced seriously degraded Ethernet and USB traffic under ProTools. Like the hanging bargraph issue posted weeks ago ( even before 6.1 ). Last week I noticed touchwrites not written and a spontaniously jumping fader on one of my packs. Isn't this a case of bad ethernet-traffic under OSX??????? Maybe Apple should write a kind of patch which solves the Ethernet-issue. IMHO I'm almost certain it is not a digi-issue but an OSX-issue. It always takes a minute to wait for network services on system startup. This wasn't noticable in any way under OS9. What is it that Apple did in OSX regarding networktraffic And another thing: why are the screenredraws slower since 6.1 ? when I rearrange my trackorder the tracks are more quickly rearranged on the slocontrol than on the screens. It sometimes takes seconds... |

Hey Mano,
I've had all the problems you've described. Yes, I think it is 6.1 software. It's too bad. I will try trashing prefs and stuff again. |

Re: ProControl reactions with PT 6.1 are slower
let's post some system details here and compare them ... see if that reveals something.
G4 dual 800 -OS10.2.6 -HD3 -ATTO UW scsi card 16ch PC / edit pack 6.1 working just fine. no problems to report except for the fact that when you flip between channel banks, you can see something like a wave on the pan led displays. The bank flips instantly but the pan leds do a wave from left to right over the 16 channels. But this 'wave' only takes a split second. At first I didn't even notice it. Been on 6.1 since last friday. touching wood it keeps working like it has been. no delays whatsoever with transport controls / flipping to sends or plugin parameters etc etc. 6.1 has been rock solid for 3 full days and counting ....

Re: ProControl reactions with PT 6.1 are slower
My system is:
G4 DP 800 1,25 GB RAM PT 6.1 SYS OSX 10.2.6 2 LaCie Monitors LCD 18" ( 1digital + 1 Analog) HD7 ATTO SCSI (digicard) 64UW 4 DIGIDRIVE ProTools (Magma) 13 slots ProControl 32 faders (Main+3 FPack) all are connected on a DHCP network with 2 hub 1 ADSL router ( 1 iMac + 1 G4 DP 867) Uh, we have got the same CPU!! with the same problem..1+1= 6.1 isn't a rock, it's seem sand.. ex. 1 day working 8 freeze.. always when i'll do make something from one window to the other screen..(ex. moving the beat detective window from the A monitor to B monitor).. not always..sometimes randomly.

Re: ProControl reactions with PT 6.1 are slower
G4 Powerbook 1 ghz 768 MB RAM
Magma 4 slot, HD4 Firewire Glyph Trip2 ProControl single unit, no hubs 2 192s I get the "wave" effect, as well as the touch-but-don't-write effect. The wave effect gets very annoying once you bank 3+ over. It can take up to 8 seconds to update, including the mutes. Often I think things are muted when they are not after I bank over. |

Re: ProControl reactions with PT 6.1 are slower
G4-867
Atto EPC DC ( alias digidesign scsi 64 kit) OS 10.2.6 3 x 192 IO SYNC MIDI IO HD 3 SloControl ( yes i like this joke ) 32 faders + editpack OSX sucks in my HO None of these problems occur in 5.3.1 under OS9. There's only one reason for me to run PT 6.1: the featured digibase. It saved the day when I had a 3 second powerfailure 2 weeks ago. There's this file called cache.wmf. Nothing got lost !!! You did a great job with that guys..... I can imagine there's lots of people eager to use rewire and the slightly enhanced midi-functionalities but I asked myself today: what does 6.1 offer I cannot do with 5.3.1. 5.3.1 runs fast, quick screenredraws, quicker graphical pluginresponse ( LinMB for instance ) and a better syncing with SYNC.... but I'll post that in another thread. Since OSX it seems ProTools is no fun anymore |
