Default Here\'s one I haven\'t seen....

Just got the Digi 001 - installed OK (Dell XPS-R 400/192mb - 98SE)- click on the icon to start it up - message reads: "Can't find cfd.dll file" - now in the folder right above the start PT/LE icon is that very file (cfd.dll) it can't find...and the 'find file' command has no problem finding it either...what gives?

I've seen this happen when one of the PTLE's binary files (.EXE or .DLL) has been inadvertently copied to the desktop. Make sure the icon you're launching PTLE from is really a shortcut to the application, and is not the application .EXE file itself.

Nope...took the shortcut icon off the desktop entirely....launch from the folder icon still says it can't find the file directly above it and clearly visible...if only I could drag the file to the box and say, "there, stupid!"...

Any ideas? Can't evaluate a program I can't even get to launch...

I see this all the time. You must install the wavedriver 1.6 first then restart, then install Pro Tools ver 5.0.1 Win98SE. Follow that link for the PDF if you dont have the quickstart quide (chapter 3) for MAC and Windows. Also the document you need for installation of the wavedriver is on the Pro Tools ver.5.0.1 CD in the wave driver folder
(Print and have ready) First de-install Pro Tools and Digisystem files remove the device in the system control panel under sound video and game controllers. Restart. Check under devices ( system control panel ) then click computer/properties and view the devices resoures( IRQ's) verify the 001 is not sharing with other devices( should be on the same IRQ with holder for PCI steering. If sharing, then move the card to another slot( may be bios congfigured)
Let me know what you find after these steps.
