Default interesting article

I found this courtesy of Kevin Perry over on the 3db board... I found the article interesting. Amazingly it was from DIGI! For those who might not have noticed it:

... nice article about the Protools mixer, bits, bytes, dither....the whole sha-bang. A nice graphic of how bits are used in the mix bus is especially interesting.

Interesting. They talk about the 48-bit TDM mixer architecture - any idea what we get in LE?

didn't want to start another thread, because it would fit under this one.

Here's an article about Sir George in today's NY Times.

LE has a 32-bit floating point Mix engine. Not sure how it relates to the 48-bit fixed point Mix engine in TDM.

Thanx OG. If you do the math then, maybe this is one reason they limit PTLE in track numbers (apart from the commercial/marketing need to push us all subliminally up the HD hill)? So if you're summing all 32 tracks, and want to pull down to quiet levels across most of them at once, the 32 bits is still wide enough to keep the low level stuff clean and audible. Interesting.
