Well, the new logo is pretty cool . Bye-bye Digi. Does this mean my 442s are now collectors' items?

It was hilarious to have 21st century insurance this last year. They notified us with great fanfare that they were now called "AIG!!!" And then a couple months later they announced with a false grin that they were "21st Century!!!" again.

I doubt "^V|>" would be silly enough to take a winning brand, "digidesign," and make it a losing brand, "^V|>." But they have surprised in the past...

I dunno; Gibson was silly enough to take Urei, Steinberger and Opcode and make them disappear.

WHY, WHY WHY!!!!!!!!???????

Avid is dying...let it go.

there are more younger future consumers in the world who are familiar with the name digidesign then there are who know avid.

this makes no sense to me.

AVID is traded on the stock exchange... they need visibility and name recognition to boost the stock.

"Digidesign" is not the winning brand, "Pro Tools" is. That's what people know.

well we aren't going to start referring to "the Pro Tools" as "The avid" so this won't be too traumatic.

Well, I went to digi's site to see the new logo, but something else caught my attention: Avid is now offering paid support.
avid support page
the cheapest option is (for HD) 522 Euros, and, among other benefits, you can get: "...Software updates and patches..."
Does that mean we'll have to pay for .cs and x.01, x.02 etc versions? Does that mean we'll have something like WUP for ProTools?
I hope this is a false alarm, due to my lack of understanding the real meaning of that announcement, but I'd like to hear some opinions and, of course Digi's comments.
