I get this too. I upgraded to latest PT 12 with new Mac Pro running El Capitan. Previously I had LE and the import window showed mp3's and wavs as all importable. No problem at all.

Now on my new Mac Pro and PT12, when a mix of mp3 and wav file names show up in the import window, the mp3's are greyed out and so not importable. Though if I import mp3's from a folder containing just mp3's, they are not greyed out and importable. What's all that about ?!!

This is soooo frustrating and adds time to a task that should be so straightforward. PLEASE sort it out AVID !

I have exactly the same thing here. I two-finger (right) click and choose "Quick Look" - I can then import the file, but it's slow and clumsy. Waiting for Avid to get back to me - sadly the usual response is "we have not heard of this issue" when in fact there are numerous threads on numerous sites with this very issue. Hey ho!

This new feature you've added that won't let me import random wavs and aifs is really great, but maybe we could go back to 2006 when I could just put any file in my session.

Totally asinine that a bug this major would last months.

And no, I'm not going to PAY Avid for a support code to report this. I'm just going to whine here repeatedly.

Fresh new wav, just created. Can't import via cmd-shft-i, have to drag a drop into the session like a child:

Note that you're only repeating your frustration to other users, not to Avid. This is strictly a user forum. It's not monitored by Avid support personnel.

Just started using PT 12 at work...and I have this issue as well. Permissions are correct, files are seen as mp3 or wav in "Get Info" and playable elsewhere, and it's totally (seemingly) random.

KILLING my workflow. WTF?
