Default Audio Outs show strange & midi not working anymore

I have Digi002 rack. Instaled, opened, used, I even made a little test song....Everything fine.

I started PT yesterday (was working w/ audio only, mixing a song). Everything fine....until I noticed that my ouput was not showing Digi002 anymore! To my surprise, it says I have a 888/24 !!!! (I wish I have!!!).
http://felipereis.com/files/host/pt.jpg (image tags dont work)

And (the worst) the midi is not working anymore! It flashes on the rack but, aparently, PT is not "receiving" this signal. I did everything on the trobleshooting page w/o results.

The only major difference was that Final Cut was instaled in this computer a week ago. As far as I know, these 2 programs do not conflict between each other so....

Any help/clue is welcome.

Have you opened any sessions which were created on an 888 system?

Hm, now that you mention, yes I did. And I haven't use the midi since then....I think you solve the mystery. But how to "revert" to my previous settings? I hope the midi will come back too...

And thank you for the reply.

Hi,

For audio I/O, it's only a change in your I/O setup that apply when you opened your session on the TDM system.
To change it, go to the "I/O setup" in the "Setups" menu and click on "default" for your inputs, outputs, inserts and busses.

When you open a session with such changes, PT warn you when opening. You can save your I/O setup in a file and recall it if you often exchange files from different PT machines.

For MIDI, Protools uses Coremidi so open the AMS (Audio Midi Setup) application (you can find it in the folder Applications/utilities of your system HD) and check that your digi002 still there or not. In installing FCP, it may change stuff in the AMS and so change the MIDI setup. If so try to ceate a new MIDI setup and If your hardware is still not here, reboot with this new MIDI setup.

May it helped

Thanks demodigi. I reset the I/O to default and now I have this. "Analog 1-2" is better than "888/24 1-2". But the original used to show like "Digi002 1-2". Will I see this again? And take another look at the picture: my track "record" button is in a different place w/ a different layout!!!!!! Used to be a red "circle/ball" where the "?" is....The main transport window is different too.....hmm...

Oh, and btw, the midi is still not working. I made a different setup, etc.....It's not recognizing my keyboards. Digi002 is there.

Regressive counting for re-instalation started:

The naming of the paths is easily redone. I don't think the location of the record button really changed.

And since a reinstall only takes about 5 minutes, why make a big fuss about it?

Even instaling PT again will prevent me to have this problem in the future?

prevent? well, you should save the setups, then you can always reset the path names to the originals.
