Default Static edit window

My cursor moves through the tracks on record and playback but the window remains stuck at the start of the track throughout. Help please?

Thanking you in advance for your patience. My next problem with the edit window is that it starts halfway along the pc screen. There's a huge empty gap between the controls and the start of the the recordings.

I'm not sure if I understand but it sounds like you have Edit Window Scrolling set to Continuous I think you want it set to Page.

That worked. Thanks very much. Next problem (you can tell I'm a musician who never bothered to learn engineering and now regrets it) - where is the master fader in my mix window? I have the recorded tracks but no master slider. I've fiddled with viewing options and just made things worse for myself.

The same way you create any track. Instead of selecting Audio Track from the Track menus, select Master Fader.

You also need to understand the concept of Master Fader. There is always one for every output in PT mixer, whether internal buss or physical output. Because there are so many, by default Master Faders are hidden. You can make them visible as said, "creating" a Master Fader track for your output.

But wait! There's MORE You want a STEREO Master track(assuming this is for your main stereo mix) You can also create master tracks for AUX sends(great for a headphone mix that needs a little EQ or a limiter to catch peaks that might be too loud). Groove3 has some of the best tutorials available and everyone I know that has paid to join has found it worth every cent. If you're a poor broke musician, youtube is a decent source(though some tutorials are better than others, if you know what I mean)
