Default Clocking question

I am running pro tools ultimate now with a Focusrite Red 4Pre running through an HD Native Thunderbolt with a Sync HD. Should my clock source be the Sync HD, or the HD Native Internal? The sync and the Focusrite are connected on loop sync. Should I put the Focusrite on loop sync or internal sync?

I'm sure not the final answer on this, but isn't the point of the Sync HD is to act as the master clock? Never used the Sync HD, so I am not sure on what connections it has, but my experience would suggest, if the Sync has Wordclock out, I would feed Wordclock from the Sync HD to the Focusrite and set things to run that way(Wordclock would be the clock source)

Alternately, don't use the Sync HD and leave the Focusrite set to internal(of course, you may have a need for the Sync HD)

Why are you using a sync HD? Are you generating LTC or chasing? Are you using Machine Control? If you’re not doing any of those and your only interface is the focusrite then make that your clock source and ditch the Sync HD. Otherwise feed word clock to the Focusrite from the Sync HD but I hope you have a master word clock generator.

The Sync HD is a master wordclock generator.

From peripherals set it up. From session setup and playback hardware set it as master. Set the Focusrite to use external wordclock and run a wordclock cable out from the Sync into Focusrite. If the Focusrite has loop sync, you can do that instead (but not both)
