'Initializing Audio Engine' hang up when starting Pro Tools

Hey guys,

I am working on the latest update of Pro Tools 12. No recent upgrades to my computer or anything. Literally used Pro Tools yesterday - I get on this afternoon and it will not go past the Initializing Audio Engine prompt on the load screen.

From what I found online, I tried to hold down N to change my interface - I tried installing ASIOS4ALL and change to that instead, but it made no difference... still frozen at the audio engine prompt.

If anybody could please help with this I would really appreciate it! I have deadlines to meet this coming week.

trash preferences.

maybe consider a reinstall of Pro Tools if that doesn't work.

update drivers.

make sure Windows isn't using your interface as the sound engine.

I usually get this when PT is set to the onboard audio after an update or a trashing prefs. ASIO4all usually makes things worse. I simply try to get PT to open somehow and change to the engine to the ASIO of my interface

Wow, thanks so much guys. Trashing Preferences fixed the problem!
