Default 002R + new 15\" AluBook preliminary results

wow.

I don't want to jinx anything, but so far this combo has been unbelievable. My 002R seems to have come from the healthy batch (of course, it may fail tomorrow morning) and the new 15" G4 is holdin' up like a champ at 17 tracks + 3 stereo aux tracks with 1 reverb (d-verb, sadly) and 2 delays. There are 8 T-Racks eq's, 6 Digi 4-bands and 5 Digi compressors in the mix.

I simply opened an older session I had in 5.3.1 and added a few tracks with additional samples and loops, replaced all disabled plugs with what I have now (which is obviously not much to shout about). Not a single hiccup, not even a slow screen redraw, it seems I could have piled some more ketchup over it all and kept going. I plan to buy a Waves bundle, Filter Freak and perhaps a Sony EQ. This may all change as a result, but for now, just thought I'd share my experience with this new Powebook.

1.25ghz G4 Alu-book
1gig ram
80gig hd
120gig LaCie D2 (read and write to ProTools)

PT 6.1
OS 10.2.8

I probably won't be downloading 6.1.2 just yet, not until I feel I need to. This is working fine so it stays at 6.1 for now.

Additionally, I just thought I'd express my wonder at the sound of the 002R. Perhaps it's just the fact that I've been PT deprived for 4 months and I opened sessions I haven't heard in a long time, but man, I don't remember the sound being so crisp with the 001. Must be the said improved DA (and AD) converters...
