Avid Artist Soft keys changing color

Soft key colors change depending on how I navigate to them on my avid artist control.

The surface soft key colors (not the larger touch screen soft key colors. I'm talking about the two narrow rows at the bottom of the screen that refer to the physical surface soft keys) are muted (like darkened) on the first page if I navigate to the first page using the page up/down buttons, but if I'm on any other page and I use the shift/home key combination to get back to the first page, they are bright and colorful like they should be. Anyone else seeing this behavior? I'm running Eucontrol 3.4 and the latest Artist Series firmware, and it does it whether I'm in Digital Performer or Pro Tools. (latest version of both apps)

It's yet another thing they broke in a past version from years ago and never bothered to come back and fix.
