Re: To sync transport of a Protools LE to a Protools HD...
Yes. They both understand MIDI if you have a MIDI interface with the HD system or a Sync I/O.
You could use MIDI Time Code (MTC), run a MIDI cable from one to the other. Make sure both have the same start time (or enter an offset if necessary) (Setup > Session) For the master - Setup > Peripherals > Synchronization > MTC Generator Port (If you have a Sync I/O on the HD system you could generate MTC from it in the Setup > Session window as well. If you don't have a MIDI interface for HD, then this is the master because the Sync I/O only has MIDI out. For the slave - MTC Reader Port Set the slave to online - Transport > clock button far left This is also explained some in the Pro Tools Reference guide under "Generating Time Code" This should get you started in the right direction. Re: To sync transport of a Protools LE to a Protools HD...
I would recommend running a word clock cable from the Sync to the MB2P or sync both to the same WC Ref generator

Re: To sync transport of a Protools LE to a Protools HD...
A really easy way to do it is via Ethernet. If you are using Tiger on both macs it is possible to use Midi over ethernet. This can be found in the AudioMidi setup app in the Utilities folder. I simple connect both macs via an ethernet cable and set each mac to a static unique IP # like 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2 then you can send Midi over ethernet from within Pro Tools. set the send MTC checkbox in the session setup section whereyou will now see a new port "network" .On the receiving machine in the peripherals preference set the recieve from "any" then place the receive machine to "online" and press play on the master and it should sync almost instantly. No midi interfaces needed.
Hope this helps Simon L. |
