But Rewire itself didn't go 64 bit until just a couple of versions ago.

Maybe he means using it up to PT10 (32bit)?

I would imagine so. PT10 and previous incarnations only needed 32 bit Rewire which existed since time immemorial AFAIK.

This is my concern. Reason is my main source for MIDI sounds and I use rewire all the time. If I don't have to upgrade from Reason 4 then I don't want to.

That depends on whether you're not going with PT11 and also on exactly when Rewire protocol changed to 64 bit. Don't know if you can update just the Rewire protocol separately from Reason.

You won't lose anything from Reason 4 with going to Reason 7 - in fact you gain a bunch of stuff. You should be able to open anything from a Reason 4 session in Reason 7.

Unfortunately, this doesn't really aid in solving your prob...
Rick,
Do you recall the order of install? Did you have PT 10.3 on there, for instance, and upgraded to 11 to have both versions? What about Reason, did you uninstall the 32bit version or just install the 64bit reason on "top"? Reason installed before or after PT?

Sorry for all the questions, still struggling with it and I'm now wondering if the order/procedure is important.

In Windows you have to go out of your way to install the 32 bit version of Reason (using /32 option), so I'm confident I have the 64 bit version of Reason.
Humm except that to run Reason in PT 10 on down, it has to run in 32 bit, regardless of what your computer is running. Also at least in Reason 6.5 (which is what I have) the selection to launch in 32 is done in Reason, not the OS So I'm wondering if you need to go back into Reasons preferences and change it to 64

Yes, you will have to upgrade.
I had the same problem, still have though, but I'm a little closer to fix it since I installed Reason 7.

My concern is more in the cost. Currently trying to upgrade a few other things as well and this would be another thing on the list. Joys of music eh?
