Default Fab filter ProQ2 vs HOFA IQ-EQ

Does anybody else notice that the HOFA's high end is clearer than FF's

I have compared both with the same settings and HOFA's high end is more like the MAAG EQ when the top end just opens up....

I wanted to like the pro q2 but it doesn't have the top end sparkle that I am needing

It's all in your mind. Just use EQ 7-band. They are all the same...

Default Fab filter ProQ2 vs HOFA IQ-EQ

No way - they sound different - even the 7band avid sounds clearer in the HF (than the FF)

Both FabFilter Pro-Q 2 and HOFA IQ-EQ V3 are excellent EQs.

Pro-Q 2's addressable frequency range is 10 Hz - 30 kHz
IQ-EQ's addressable frequency range is 1 Hz - 40 kHz
Maag EQ4's addressable frequency range is 10 Hz - 40 kHz

I agree that both IQ-EQ and EQ4 have wonderful top end presence.

Agree about 7-band. They all sound the same. If you measure them with the oscilloscope. The difference is in graphics, ergonomics, versatility and dialing parameters and limits. You can't change the math. You can add effects eg saturation.
Chose the most beautiful EQ for your taste which serves the best your needs and maps good on your controller and go with it.

I'm glad it's not just me who's noticed

Btw: I use DMG Equilibrium too. Not because of the sound but because it replaced my NF575+eq7 by itself only.

Anyone believing that eq is merely about boosting and cutting frequencies is going to have a rough time working with clients with exceptional hearing.

Evidence that this game has deeper rules is easily obvious when switching modes in FabFilter, for instance. Don't touch the boost or Q, just swap phase modes, then listen, and then let's talk about all eqs being the same.

Btw I prefer FabFilter. Its pedigree isn't as obvious until you use it across an entire mix. Then you notice fidelity and clarity that's unusual from others. Yes, I know that sounds like crackpot BS. It also happens to be true.

Switching modes? I don't know anything about That - I have the demo for a few days still
