PTHD9 Plugin controls become unresponsive.

Couldn't seem to find any threads on this so I'm hoping it's not just me that's experiencing this.

Situation: Just upgraded to new Mac Pro (3.33Ghz Westmere/12Gb RAM/PT9-HD3).

Issue: I'm experiencing my plugin parameters as unresponsive. If I open a new plugin, if I try to move any parameter at all, it doesn't move with my mouse. If I import a plugin with already set parameters from another session, when I click on any one of it's parameters, it immediately zeroes and will not let me move it. I can assign automation as a workaround but otherwise they will not budge. Not on all plugs. The Digi plugs seem to be fine (EQ7, comp/limiter, etc). I've noticed it on Altiverb and all of Waves so far.

Has anyone else seen this behavior? I've never seen it before now.

Sounds like either you have incompatible plug-ins installed or you need to try to trash prefs.

I tried trashing my prefs which didn't work. In regard to incompatible plugins, are the latest Waves plugins incompatible?

Hi,

Yes the latest waves are compatible.

Have you got any old or out of date plugins in the folder?

After removing any out of date or incompatible plugs from the folder you must trash the prefs to empty the plugin cache!!

I made some progress this morning. Just thought I'd update for posterity.

Turns out the problem is not a plug-in conflict but rather a screen resolution problem. I'm using a new Apple 27" display which goes up to 2560x1440. When working at that resolution, I get a GUI freeze on Waves and Altiverb (that I know of). If I change the resolution down to 1920x1080, the issue goes away.

It's a bummer because the higher resolution is wicked.

I have a similar issue when using Waves plug-in's. The parameters all zero out when I try to edit waves plugs on the secondary monitor and not the primary monitor. It doesn't seem to matter what the resolution is set at. This has been happening for PT ver6,7,8,and9.

It's a known issue that is deep in Waves code. I experience it with my Wacom tablet mouse on my second monitor.

Yeah, further noodling this afternoon reveals that it's not resolution related, but definitely monitor related. I tried plugging the Apple 27" (absolutely stunning monitor, btw) directly into the machine and the problem went away, so now my sights are set on the miniDisplayPort extension cable. I've got a 24AWG ext on order for overnight so I'll swap that out and report back tomorrow.

Mrken37 - do you by chance have your second monitor connected via an extension cable?

Both monitors are on extension cables. This only happens with Waves plugs and only on the secondary monitor. And as I said it's not a new issue with PT9.
