Default A Little Bussing Help...

Okay, am I missing something or has my installation of PTLE gone slightly corrupt?

Win XP Home SP2
6.9 cs4
002 Rack
AMD 64 3700
Asus A8V Deluxe
1 gb RAM

I have 2 mono audio tracks I want to submix. I assign the output of both to bus 4 and the input of a 3rd mono audio track to bus 4. I record arm track 3 and play down. The meters move on tracks 1 & 2, but no signal appears at track 3. I put up a mono aux track and assign its input to bus 4. I play down. Signal appears at the aux track no problem.

What am I missing?

Thanks,

Spk and Matt,

Thanks, I just tried that, no joy. Whether in Auto Input Monitor or Input Only Monitor, the results are the same. No signal on the 3rd audio track and signal on the aux track.

I checked my I/O setup and as far as I can tell nothing has changed. I know I used this method before to mix down a couple of tracks so I could time compress a tightly edited read.

<sigh> the Gremlins have struck

Hey The Weed,

You probably already doing this but you didn't mention it: Set input of the 3rd audio track to bus 4?

Sorry, just checking.

EDIT STARTS HERE:

DOH!!! Missed it!!! You did mention it. Ignore me doing this!!!

Weird, man!

that's crazy,

if you want you can email just the PT session file with no audio
this way I can see your setup but to me it sounds like you have everything routed correctly

my email is [email protected]

but if your tracks are routed correctly and something on your system is set up wrong it would still work on mine but not yours

This probably isn't your problem, but this is a bit of a dumb thing that I tend to do occasionally: Sometimes I assign either the input or output as an analog I/O instead of bus. That's always fun.

JD, I'm sure. Matt opened the session file I sent him, added some audio and it works as it's supposed to. I'm still scratching my head. May have to call lemix to get this straightened out. That's going to cost me in Guinness

Cheers,
