FYI: The Crest adapter with the SSD drives are installed and working. Having a bit of a time getting the Mac OS onto one of them, but I will get there.

As I have a Mac tower too I was wondering what sort of problem you are having with Mojave. My ProTools drive is already running as Mojave on an internal SSD. I use Superduper to back it up to on an external drive (bootable). My plan would be to just clone it back to the new NVMe drive if I go down this road (I'm presuming that's possible).

I am doing a fresh install of Mojave on one of the ssd drives, but it was not letting me update the firmware. I figured it out though. TURN OFF THE AVID PROGRAM. Days of banging my head against the wall and spewing expletives and that was the issue. I think I actually looked like my avatar.

Still can’t get Mojave to load onto the ssd drive, but I have High Sierra loading onto it as I type this. Hoping it will boot from the ssd drive and then I will update to Mojave. I will keep you all updated.

The Eagle has landed!

Mojave installed on SSD drive 1 in the Crest adapter and starts up perfectly.
SSD drive 2 is showing up fine too.

Tomorrow I will do some speed tests to compare with the one I did before upgrading. Plus, I will install Pro Tools.

But how does it make you feel?

What about boot time. Impact on Pro Tools startup. VI load etc.

Part of the time the computer freezes and won’t even let me shut it down when copying large or multiple PT sessions between SSD drives. But, not all of the time. Copying smaller files between SSD drives works fine.
Not sure what is going on there.

But, it sure boots fast, faster then fast, OMG fast.

I just moved 168 GB from an SATA drive to SSD drive 1 and it worked. The same file that locked the machine up earlier.
But, the machine locked up as soon as I tried to copy the same file from SSD drive 1 to SSD drive 2. SSD drive 2 doesn’t seem to like large files.
