I saw the version they had running at NAB. Seems like they were still working some things out. Could be cool, but will require another computer. If you are already using something like VVTR, it seems similar to that workflow but possibly more flexibility, especially in an Avid environment.

I saw it at NAB. If it lives up to it's hype, it will replace my aging Doremis and Canopus (canopi?) dual systems (V1's for tape, Canopus for files).

Everything I saw from Digi at NAB was an adaptation of someone elses ideas into their products (new automation features are a total ssl rip, satellite is VVTR rip, etc). Which isn't a bad thing at all, IMHO.

The main difference from vvtr is that the Satellite Video will play an Avid project through the network without importing on local drives. It will play unredered Avid project.

That's what I understood from the demo of the Satellite video I saw over here in Belgium.

It would be the best ting they have done in i long time.

It will most likely be available when PT 7.4 is released. When is 7.4 going to be released? Best guess would be shortly after Apple releases 10.5 (leopard). They'll want to do testing with a official release copy of leopard. So that puts release in a October/November ballpark. I would look for a official announcement coming during AES early October.
