Default What\'s the world clock for on the mbox pro 2?

I have an Mbox Pro 2, and a lot of people are telling me the world clock can't be used to extend my channels. So what's the point?

The word clock connector is used to sync to an external digital device.
Its not an input for audio.

Wait, so extend external devices, what about s/pdif? http://www.gearslutz.com/board/music...ng-issues.html
I really want to expand channels without having to upgrade to a 002.

you could use a preamp that also has a/d convertor and a SPDIF out. this is the only way I could think of to get more inputs to Mbox 2 pro.
What are you recording?

I have recorded drums with as low as 3 mics with somewhat disapointing results. I mean it sounds good but is hard to mix properly without addig sampled durums and really begs for more mics.
I'd say a minimum of 6-8 mics is more like it, 10-12 ideal.
my piont is you want a 003/002 with the 8 ins (16 if you get 8 pre=d/a) for that to sound right and for better control of the sound in the mix later.
with the Mbox pro you can get 4 analog +2 from a pream+a/d to the spdif for a total of six mic inputs.

Can you elaborate on this option? I think 6 mics is good for me, since I have a 4 piece drumset and i was planning on micing 2 toms, one mic on snare, one on bass drum, and two overheads.

if you get somthing like Apogee mini me

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...Converter.html

this has excelent a/d and spdif out and will give you the extra 2 inputs.
there are cheaper alternatives just search your favorit store for a dual channel pre amp with a/d spdif out.

Dependig on the style of music I would place the mics - one on the kik, 2 on the snare top and bottom, 2 oh, and the remaining input for either floor, room, hats or bass guitar. miking toms when you have few mics is less important IMO you will get them in the oh enyway.

so how do you get the spdif to work in pro tools? it says that the clock source have to be spdif, so does that cancel out the internal or what? I'm really new to this whole adat word clock stuff. xD apologiees to my ignorance.

yeah, you will need to set session setup>clock source to spdif. you will figure it out if you buy it.
