Default Differences in i7 processors

Forgive me if this is in the wrong place, but looking for solid information. I have an ASUS X99 2011-v2 motherboard I’m giving to a friend, but having an awful time finding a cpu for it (the one that WAS on it is on my Gigabyte board.) Is there a physical difference between a 2011, 2011 v-2, and a 2011-3 cpu, or do those all fit the same socket? Not finding ANYONE selling 2011 v-2 processors.
Second question. Will a compatible XEON processor work well with Pro Tools?
Thanks in advance!

If you go to the Asus website and look up that mobo, you should be able to find a list of approved processors that fit(might have to dig into the motherboard manual) They also usually have a list of approved RAM too

Yep been there and looked. I actually have the hard-copy manual still, too. Funny thing is, if I copy/paste one of the qualified processors into a google search, they tend to turn up as v3 processors. Color me confused....

Maybe try PCPartpicker. Make sure to select the exact same motherboard.

My memory clearly isn’t what it used to be. (Pun intended.) The ASUS board is a 2011-v3 socket, not v2. Amazing things happen when you re-read the manual.
