Unhappy My 003 had just died. Can anyone help?

I've been recording all day, packed up and then stopped for dinner. Went to fire everything up again after dinner and my 003 won't start. It usually makes those 'multiple clicks' when I first switch it on but now it just does sort of a small click and nothing more. No lights, no mute switch illuminated, nothing.

I've tried different power cables, different power points, unplugging everything else, removed it from it's rack. Nothing helps.

I really need to keep recording as we have a strict deadline. Very frustrating.

Can anyone tell me if this is common (or even semi-common) and what's the best way to go about repairing it? Who are some good repair agents in my area?

A few details:

It's a Digi003 rack
It's out of warranty
I'm based in Australia (SE QLD)
I've had no other problems whatsoever
I'm still running LE 7.4

Thank you in advance to anyone that can help.

Cheers
Brad

Brad,

I had the same thing happen to me.. (Blank screen, buttons not responding, but the faders move up and down when you turn it on) I'd almost bet that the firewire card in your 003 has blown.

Hot-swapping is the main cause of this problem, but if you were like me, you were not anywhere near the thing when it "died"!

If it's out of warranty you'll have to send it in for a fix. I had to ship mine from Tassie to Melb - see authorised repair centre http://digidesign.com/index.cfm?navi...1&itemid=26987
For the record, they were great (excuse the bad pun).

Cheers and good luck,
Marty
