Default Pot question...

Hey all,

I have a scratchy pot (monitor level) on my 002r - 99% sure its just dirty... Anywho, before I take it out of the rack, open it up and futz with it, can anyone tell me if they know whether or not the pot is open so I can shoot it with some cleaner? Hate to have to send it in... Thanks in advance!

I see you have BL mods, no one could probably answer that question better than the guys that are inside them every day. For the amount you paid for those upgrades I bet they'd be obliged to answer that email question. I'm having some scratchiness in my UA 2-610 Level pots... i feel a little weird spraying stuff into that piece... you've just inspired me to email UA for the same answer.

You may have a leaky coupling cap resulting in DC offset on the pot. If you have a 'scope, I'd check for this first.

Thanks for the quick answers, guys! Odds - thats a great idea... I'll check with them too. G2, are you saying that the same symptoms can come from a cap? The scratchy-ness occurs in the 1/16th of a turn from being all the way off to literally just above turning it on (like about 6:35 or so turning clock-wise of course). I can wiggle it back and forth, and it cuts out and is scratchy. Above this (from about 8:00 on), its fine.
