Default Mute channel when recording in headphones

Hi!
New member here.
I got a strange thing in Protools artist.
When I record for an example guitars I wanna mute the channel so I just hear the speaker and not the sound in headphones.
My problem:
Even if I mute theres still sound in headphones.
If I play trough monitors it works as it should.
This have worked before.
Is it anyone who knows what this could be?
Thanks!

If you mute the channel but are still hearing it you are not only listening the mix from Pro Tools.

Your audio interface might be monitoring directly the input being recorded ('Direct Monitor' or similar on the interface).

Lastly, the interface could have additional software that is routing the input to your speakers?

Hope that helps.

Stephen

Lets back up (and maybe it's a second language thing )

But if you "mute the channel" you should not be hearing anything in HP's or speakers

The only exception to that is,, if you you are sending form the track to another track. (i.e. like say sending from the guitar track to a parallel reverb or delay aux track)

OR as Stephan mentioned if you have direct input monitoring on on your interface

Hi thanks for your answers.
Is the direct monitoring a setup in Protools.
Wouldn't it be the same sound that came out from the speakers? (without headphones)
I got an Focusrite scarlett 18/20 soundcard I got both speakers and headphones connected.

I solve the problem, it was a setup in Focusrite control.
You gave me the clue, thanks!
