Default MP3s WARBLE after Import into PTools....What Gives?

Anyone ever heard of this?

I imported an mp3 into a 48K/ 44.1 session.

It plays, but sounds like it's a tape that someone is playing with the capstan motor on. It warbles. This is something new...never heard this with a digital file.

So I played them in the Finder using Itunes and the mp3s play fine.

I then converted them using MPLAY to AIFF files, and tried importing those. No luck.

I can play them fine from the IMPORT AUDIO audition window, but once converted, the warble is back. What gives here???
