Sometimes one can get carried away. Even the mouse pad is fluorescent green. No, this is not my studio

Dear Windows Friendos experiencing lame color scheme issues:

Ok, so I figured out the Title bar (where it says Pro Tools) issue at least.

In settings for Themes, in Color where you actually set the "accent" color of windows, apparently not all apps automatically adopt the theme, you have to tick a box that reads "Titles bars and window borders." For some reason the title doesn't stay black when the app isn't in focus, I'll keep digging around but I'm guessing this is a sys pref in windows and not specific to PT.

That's all I have for now, but it's step one. The other issues probably lay within the skin text file as musicman has been playing around with, I think the border would have to be windows specific but musicman if you've found the line item for the menu bar let me know so I don't have to find that one line by line.

HAHAHA!! I spent a lovely summer with my feet hanging out of a Synclavier rack that was taller than me, while on the phone for hours with New England Digital. Fun times!

2 things:

1) found a way to turn off the window focus returning the title bar to another color or white by adding a registry item LINK TO THE STEPS

2) The outdated edit/mix window border is actually a deficit in Windows 10 with MDI child windows (all programs run in a parent window, and contain child windows, that's why you can't move just any old window wherever you want with PT on windows, though I suppose they could make them all floating windows) not having been updated to follow theme settings and just display an old Win7 style. nonetheless Avid can customize these the child window style, they just... haven't. that said, until avid gets in there and changes this for windows users i don't think there's a way to change that.

all that said, man the Windows implementation here was actually pretty damn lazy. anyone else have a giant wall of blue on insert/bus dropdowns with more than one page where the page isn't filled all the way? the blue ring around it is lame as well. i know mac makes it a little easier to make things looks pretty but... c'mon.

Just installed 2020.11 I have to say for me( I am 70 ) the dark mode is not as bad as some of the reactions here would indicate . I can see every thing fine and there are some things I do like, so it is interesting.

EXCEPT IMO for one of the major things that made PT GUI so elegant and superior to most other DAWs was in fact the 3D -ish look to all the buttons etc on the mixer and tool bar especially ... And I agree this new "flatness" in dark mode looks to me like a step backwards and kinda like all the other less elegant GUI 's out there . Too bad really cause there are some things I like a lot. Oh well Classic for and see what the future holds
