Go GigaDesign, get 'em here, installation takes half an hour, including reading the instructions, they're plug and play, no software to install, and they really do rock!

There are other brands of CPU upgrades to consider besides Gigadesign. The Gigi MAY be the best one for your budget/CPU, maybe not. For instance, some Macs can handle a dual-CPU upgrade and some can't.

Check out this site for lots of reviews of CPU upgrade cards: http://www.xlr8yourmac.com

You can search for CPU upgrades available from all the manufacturers based on your particular model. Go to their database of reviews for CPU Upgrades.

I'm considering the OWC upgrade myself. Sonnet, PowerLogix, and others all make competing products. You can also check out www.macsales.com for their list of CPU upgrades - no reviews, though. You can use their search engine to find only the exact CPU upgrades that will work with your QS model.

I own(ed) a G4 733 Quicksilver, and I bought the Gigadesigns Dual 1.2Ghz processor for around 700 i believe. I got it from www.macsales.com

Very easy to install and I must have tripled my performance in PT... also works nice with programs like Final Cut.

The only drawback is the increase in fan noise, but as long as you don't mind that then you're golden.

Good luck,
matt

I have a converted 733 G4. I went with Giga Designs but I have heard good things about the other ones as well. I am not a computer tech and installation was easy.
