Been mixing for a month now with 2018.4 and High Sierra 10.13.3. 2 Satellite linked MacPros 5.1, only issue is that Black Magic Driver and Waves do not play well on the computer with the BM card, video engine errors and PT crashes. Removal of the Waveshells solves it.

Such as? Curious about the expensive ones...

I'm on a Windows laptop, 16gig ram,i7 processor running PT2018.1..I know 16 gigs is the minimum but it's a new Lenovo laptop so for awhile, it'll have to do. I'm not running hundreds of plug-ins when the following issues happen. Every once in awhile the program will literally just close down, boom....I'm looking at my desktop. I have no clue. I've come to learn to save, save, save. I've also noticed that if you're using elastic audio, you have a chance of the system freezing up to the point you need to force close it and come back in. I'm worried about the upgrades I have. I guess currently we're at 2018.4? I'm still with 2018.1. Should I upgrade? I'm just a hobbyist, and I've yet to figure out exactly what actions will cause these issues to happen, but when I do, I'll post what I see happening. Maybe the upgrades have fixed these issues I see happening?? I will say when it's working,I'm having a great time, but it's a little bit of a pain to have these issues bouncing around in my head while I'm working.. You never know when you'll be rebooting the computer & starting PT up again.

running pretty fast and nice here....

but

having really strange beachball hangs from time to time. Audio is continuing to play back, but everything else is locked (mouse can be moved, but not clicked, keyboard does not work, no force shutdown or app change possible). Have to hard shut down the computer. Could not track it down so far.

2018.4 on 10.13.3 on trash can mac

No Idea what the problem is. It may not occur for days, but on other days as today it may hang three time in a row.

Really strange and really annoying!!!

That's exactly what's happening on my side! Besides me running 10.13.5 on a 5.1 mac pro. It's sooooo very annoying and frustrating. The locks even happen when transport isn't playing.
My system is pretty vanilla and Ableton for example is operating at rocket speeds without the slightest problem...

FIX! NOW!

I had that a few months ago. I ended up having to update my mouse and keyboard drivers.

Windows, but Mac showed up early and often when I searched for the solution. The relation to PT was that PT would freeze up when the "link" between the mouse and the driver dropped during mid-move and even sometimes at the beginning of the move.

Pro Tools 2018.4 has been great overall. I've had a couple of heart stopping issues but I subsequently determined that it was user error.
