command 8 off line/help
I have had command 8 running with m-box and PT LE 7.1,,with no problems for about 4 months...recently for some unknown reason..command 8 is not being recognized during the usual start up procedures. I have done everything possible troubleshoot,,to try too fix this problem. I believe the command 8 already installed software, that came with PT LE7.1 is somehow been deleted from my comp, syst..( I downloaded this upgrade, hence no disc).....is their a link and download available on digi website, to reinstall this sofware?
A note:I have tried on numerous occasions to send e-mails to digi support..but have not heard back from them whats up with that?

Re: command 8 off line/help
Are you on Mac or PC?
If you're on PC, you could try to uninstall/reinstall the Command 8 drivers - go to Add/Remove Programs and modify Pro Tools. Uncheck the Command 8 driver from the list to uninstall it. Restart and run your Pro Tools installer again, this time adding the Command 8 to the list of installed components. If you're on Mac, try trashing the Command 8 profile located at MacHD>Applications>Digidesign>Pro Tools>Controllers, then run the installer for the version of Pro Tools you currently have installed, which should install a new profile. If that doesn't clear it up, check to see if the Command 8 is showing up in Audio MIDI Setup in the MIDI section - if it is, but it's greyed out, try this: Go to MacHD>Users>your account>Library>Preferences>By Host and trash 'com.apple.midi.a bunch of numbers and letters.plist'. Go to MacHD>Users>your account>Library>Preferences and trash 'com.apple.audio.audiomidisetup.plist'. Empty the trash and restart, then see if everything is working. |

Re: command 8 off line/help
I am on PC windows XP. I originally installed PT 6.9 with the supplied disc that came with my purchase of MBOX. Since then all my purchased upgrades have been from the digi website. which I currently have PT 7.1, hence I do not have any disc. I went as you instructed to uninstall/install. I only found the PT icon. thier was no seperate command 8...also how would I reinstall it if I do not have an original install disc or program..since I downloaded it directly from the digi website....
thanks for your help

Re: command 8 off line/help
When you download from the digistore, you have the option to "save" or "run." It sounds you clicked to "run." Therefore it downloaded and executed the updates with out saving to your hard drive. Your account should allow you to go back and download it again but this time select "save" before you run. This should give you the opportunity to save it somewhere on your hard drive in the event you need to reload it. I suggest you back it up to CD or other media if you want to remove it from the hard drive. Some update are available on the website while some need you to enter your access numbers first. When you buy for download, they issue you the access number. If you've lost it, try calling. They may be able to track down your purchase and give you the access number again to download. You might have in in an email that they sent you after you order too.
