Default Level Meters Don\'t Catch Peaks

I have a couple of cases now where PT level meters don't catch short peaks. I'll adjust the master output level so there is no clipping, bounce the session, and import the bounce. Clear evidence of clipping all over the place. Usually the peaks are less than 5 samples, so maybe PT is saying that something that short doesn't matter. Is this a bug or a feature?

It is possible that you are clipping at the input or output of a plug-in, but the overall level is not clipped.

Digidesign will never own up to these 'little shortcomings' but they are there.
And if you wish Digi, it is easy enough to test.

Put a BYPASSED Waves plugin on the master fader, any Waves plugin with meters in absolute neutral mode (PAZ is the safest example sinse it has no processing).
Blast your audio through the plugin just below Digi's threshold for peaking.
You will see that the Waves plugin will light up the peak indicator, but PTLE won't.

You may also look at your dither options and see if maybe that is introducing spikes. Dither adds noise, so a peak with added noise could, on occasion, generate new clipping.

Also make sure you are monitoring post fader if you are not using a master fader meters.

I am using PTLE 6.4CS6&9 on XP with an OO2
