Default muffle sound

ok im having trouble with a sound i keep hearing in certain parts of my vocals as i mix them. i keep getting a little bit of muffle sound in my vocals after being recorded. no matter how much i dial it out, its either not working or im not dialing it out enough. i dont wanna dial out too much and mess the mix up. or maybe im not dialing out the right frequency. im thinking i keep getting that muffle sound because i dont have a real vocal booth. im using my closet, and it is padded with foam all the way around. it gives me a dead sound but it comes with a price, i get a little muffle from it. or is it because my mic doesn't come with a shock mount? i dont know what it is can somebody please help. im using the neumann 102 mic, the avalon 737, and the mbox pro 3.

if your toilet (°!°) is padded with "Foam" it may reduce only
higher frequencies but not the lower mids and lows...
the reason it sounds "muffled" and it may have resonance effects

you may try a "basstrap" for your acoustics before doing any EQ,
or a special "Foam" called Basotect may help , since it reduces
nearly linear the reflections.
