Default After installing PT 8.05 all other audio software slow startup

Hey people

New poster with a terribly annoying problem.

It seems that ever since i installed pro tools and the latest update 8.05 for Mac OSX all other audio software i had on my mac has an extremely long startup time (upto 15 minutes).

What happens is the icon bounces when loading then stops, then suddenly 10 minutes later the application just appears. This is an extremely annoying problem and i have trawled the net for a fix.

The software this is happening with that i have tried is Ableton Live, Virtual DJ and Traktor PRO. All software worked perfect before installation of pro tools.

Pro tools start up time seems to be all normal.

Im working on a Macbook Pro running OSX Lion.
Protools LE 8.05
Mbox 2

Im guessing that pro tools has done something to the drivers that run all of this software.

If any of you could help me or have had a similar problem, let me know.

Thanks in advance!

Chris

Default Re: After installing PT 8.05 all other audio software slow startup

I was having the same issue with Ableton Live 8.2.6 and Reason 5.1 since I upgraded my OS X from 10.6.8 Snow Leopard to 10.7.2 Lion.

Here was my work around:

1. Download new PT 9 Drivers for your respective hardware here; http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...p?DocId=379411

2. Download PT 8.0.5 Update from here (Click "View Available Downloads");
http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...p?DocId=393663

3. Run PT 9 Driver updater (Restart will be required)
4. Locate this Folder: Macintosh HD>Library>Audio>Midi Drivers
5. Rename all and any instance of the following to include a 1 at the end for example (ex. Digidesignfirewiremidi1.plugin):
- Digidesignfirewiremidi.plugin
- Digidiomididriver.plugin
- DigidesignMBox2midi.plugin
- DigidesignMIDIIOdriver.plugin
6.Run PT 8.0.5 LE Updater(Restart will be required)
7. Check to ensure that this folder has both PT Drivers for PT 8 as well as 9: Mac HD>Library>Audio>Midi Drivers

8. Try to Run Ableton and PT make sure everything is working. If not reboot 1 more time and check again. The point is to ensure you have both 8 and 9 versions of the driver plugins in that folder. Keep the old CoreAudio Manager and all should be good!

Hope this helps took me forever to figure it out! Cheers!

Logan

Using
Digidesign 003R
Pro Tools 8.0.5 LE "Not MP"
Mac Mini 3,1 OS X 10.7.2 Lion

I'm having the SAME exact problem. I'm going to try both of these fixes when I get home. I never use Pro Tools, and it's a pain when Ableton and Serato take 10 minutes to open.

Thanks, loading quicker now. Still beach balling but better at least.

However, when launching PT I get this alert.

-An error occurred while trying to load the controller personality "Mbox3".-
No error codes are given and Im not sure what about my Mbox3 is not working.
