Default Tracks going silent PT12.7

Hi all.

I'm relatively new to Pro Tools and have been getting on ok so far. I upgraded to 12.7 earlier today and have been building up a composition. However, I'm getting an issue with certain midi tracks going silent. I'm using EastWest samples and haven't had an issue before. Certain tracks are becoming muted without me touching them (Yes i've triple checked they aren't actually muted or i have anything soloed), the midi data is still there, but no play. I also can't get any sound from the keyboard through these certain tracks, but all the other tracks are fine. I tried creating new tracks with different instruments and copy and paste the midi data onto the new track and it works, then 5 min later, without touching that track, it too stops playing! highly frustrating.

I'm going to try rolling back to 12.6, which is also frustrating as i can't seem to be able to uninstall PT.

Any advice would be most welcome.

Dan

Hi, Do the VI's on those tracks appear as Demos? I think the demo versions will time out after a few minutes and become muted.

No, they're all paid up full versions. All from the same library.

Most likely the tracks have lost the connection to the instrument. In the edit window or the mixer, chose to view "instrument" and make sure the track is routed to the VI. This is a bug that's been there for years now, where pro tools will randomly loose the midi connect to the plugin. I would start with checking that.

Thanks. This is still happening. If i change the samples, then I can get the tracks to play. I'll let the whole piece play, I'll stop the playback, return to the start, and hey presto the same tracks go silent again.

When i've lost them, i can go into the instrument and it does register the notes playing on keyboard, but no sound. If i change sample i get sound back. I'll play again and everything works, then 5 mins later i lose them again. I've also tried changing from using my eastwest samples to using Xpand2 samples, same problem.

I'm going to try making a new session and see what happens.

A quick update,
Just made a new session, put down three simple instrument tracks, by the time I'd finished the third track, my second track had failed...

This has only happened on 12.7, I'd like to roll back and install 12.6 instead, but can't seem to work out how to actually uninstall Pro Tools. Please help.

Thanks

How many VI's are you using at once? Does the sound drop out if you only have one active? Are you using the EWQL samples in Kontakt? (not sure if there's another way to use them in Pro Tools)

I think I know what he's talking about. For some reason, PT sends an invisible volume control to the midi tracks. I have searched for it, but can never find out what it is. I used to think it was an expression cc, but was not able to find that either. I think I remember just creating a new track, and copying the midi data to the new track. Also I've had some success manipulating the cc's for that track. If the problem is still there, then I will use midi control change bypass, record the track to audio, and then add the volume changes. I've encountered this in PT10, 11, and 12.
