Default Re: Gui lag 12.8.2

Disappointing to see some people are still experiencing the lag on Sierra, (although it doesn't appear to be universal). Significant lag for me on Yosemite, (which has now had PT support removed last minute)

I'm wondering if it's mac model specific (i.e. cheesegrater vs trashcan), or perhaps GPU card (Nvidia vs AMD)?

I'm running a GTX680, which although long in the tooth, is still pretty quick with plenty of memory...

Would be grateful if people could post which card they're using, & whether they're using OS built in drivers or web drivers, resolution they're running at, HDMI / Displayport, DVI etc.

Many thanks

OK I'll start:

Mac Pro 2013 D5 video card OsSierra 10.12.5 and PT HD12.8.1 and .2 with No lagging of any kind. Also Macbook Pro 2014 with same PT version, built in Video card and osSierra 10.12.6 and no lagging ever seen.

We also have our massively spec'd Trashcan 12C with SierraOS 10.12.6 and PT12.8.2 used in our large SSL4000G+ room with no issues at all.

I am seeing our friends studio saying they have lagging issues on their iMac 2017 with Sierra so it is happening to many people.

- Mac mini Server (Late 2012):
2.3GHz Intel Core i7 quad-core, 16GB RAM, 480GB+1TB SSDs
macOS 10.12.6 & 10.13
- MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013):
2.3GHz Intel Core i7 quad-core, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M, 2GB DDR5
OS X 10.11.6
Same with both releases of 12.8.2 (non-HD if that matters)

NO problems here. I have not even seen this issue at all on any of the updates. G

Also noticeably laggy. Very frustrating in large sessions. Scrolling thru tracks with the ipad control app is much faster but otherwise scroll...wait...move.

Sierra 10.12.6
Mac Pro, Dual 2.4 quad westmere, 32gb ram
PTHD 12.8.2, Eucon 3.7

I have terrible gui lag with vertical and horizontal scroll. Zoom in, zoom out is ok. The scrolling on 12.8.1 was much faster (but GUI speed was not as smooth like on HD10).

I am on PT HD 12.8.2, 1xHDX, Sierra 10.12.6, Mac Pro Mid 2010, 2x6 core, 64GB, ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB. I use AJA Kona LHi for video playback.

I have only one display plugged in to ATI HD 5770, and when I lower the resolution from 2560x1440 (native for my Dell display) to 1600x900 or 720p, scrolling becomes much smoother! Maybe some people who don't have a problem have better graphic cards?
But that doesn't change the fact that something definitely did change for worst with 12.8.2.

Can people who don't have problem confirm what graphic card they have, so we can conclude if graphics cards (and resolution?) makes definitive difference?

Ivan

I'm noticing the lag on 12.8.2 also. Just as others described, it's happening with vertical and horizontal scrolling on the magic mouse. I went back to 12.8.1 and everything is smooth again.

iMac (late 2013)
3.1 GHz intel core i7
16 GB ram
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 1024 MB
OS 10.12.6

Here's a little video of the scrolling lag - this is an empty session with no plugins or audio. It's worse with actual sessions.
