Default from PTLE8 with MPT2 to PT10. is it all for the best?

Hi.

I'm thinking of moving from PTLE8 with the Music Production Toolkit 2, to PT 10.

I'm wondering if I'll only get benefits or not.
Will I miss anything from PTLE8?
I know I'll have more tracks, even with the native PT10... and the mp3 option.

Will I lose the MPTK2 completely?

Andrea

I think it's all included with PT10 - everything is included with the exception of the plugins of course

Thank you Daniel.
Still trying to understand what will stay, what will go, etc...

So far PT10 is a bit more responsive than PT8, and volume clip is pretty useful.

Plugins like TL Space Native Reverb that were in the music production toolkit don't get installed by PT10.

Download the latest music production toolkit 2 installer, called Music_Production_Toolkit_2_v901_72330.dmg

Also download the latest version of TL Space, called TL_Space_Native_v902_71099.dmg

There may be other plugins as well, if you have, say, the producer factory licences that comes with certain MBoxes, or producer factory pro licences that came with some 002/003 packages. The latest producer factory pro installer is called
Producer_Factory_Pro_v90_69882.dmg

If you have this, there are also updates to Hybrid, called
hybrid_153_updater_63873.dmg

and Structure, called
Structure_v105_Update_66505.dmg

You can find all of these on the avid site, and they all install correctly into PT10.

Hope that helps,

Nigel

Thank you Nigel.

As of your suggestion, I have looked on the website, but couldn't find an update for my Music Production Toolkit 2.
Also, where do I look to know the version of my MPTK2?

Try this:

The latest mptk2 bundle can be found in your "my avid" account but it may give you an error when you try to install anyway. The link I provided should be all you need.

The actual toolkit is no longer valid in PT10. You don't need it because all the features of it are now built into protools standard.

Just install the plugins that came with it, as mentioned.

Thanks to all!

New problem: on my ilok I see the 30 day trial of PT10, but I don't see any authorization to run PT8. Where has that gone?

When trial is over I might want to stick with PT8 until the summer at least...

SOLVED: PT8LE only needs the Mbox... the iLok is for plugins and SW only.
