Default Running two digi002 on my PT-LE?

Hello folks,

can someone tell me if there is a chance to run TWO digi002 the same time with my PT-LE? I have got a MacBook, but only one Fibre Channel on it. If I have got a notebook with two fibre channels, am I able to run my two digi002 at one time? Or can someone told me if there is the chance to run it just with my "on-port-fibre-channel"-MacBook with additional hardware (maybe a hub or something else)?

Regards,
Edo ...

Whilst I haven't tried it, it may be possible to connect a second 002 (to the first 002) via ADAT lightpipe with the latter operating in standalone mode. However, I do not think that both can act as controllers.

If an extra contoller is the objective (rather than additional inputs), I believe that a 002 and Command 8 can be used together.

No, it won't work. The drivers only support a single interface at one time.

Brad is right and I just wanted to clarify for anybody else who comes across this thread and isn't sure:

FiberChannel and Firewire are NOT the same thing. They're entirely different data transfer and device control protocols.

thx a lot for this information. i have had my control-24 and my digi002 at the same time, but this worked because the digi is using the firwire, and the control-24 is using the ethernet (LAN) connector of my G5.

but we have the problem that we need more then the 8 I/Os of the digi002 to make a "location record" with a macbook on pt-le and i cannot get my big control-24 from my pt-tdm studio with me.

best regards,
edo

Rent a device that will convert 8 analog inputs to ADAT optical and use the optical input on the 002. That will give you 16 inputs (and, depending on the device, 16 outputs). Behringer, Presonus, Focusrite, RME, Apogee... They all make units that will work, you just need to figure out what's available in your area and what's in the budget.

hi folks,

it works!! we have put the first digi002 (rack version) per firewire to the protools 7.4 macbook. then we have attached the second digi002 (mixer version) per fibre channel to the first digi002 and so we have had 16 I/Os (2 x 4 mic-inputs and 2 x 4 inst. inputs).

regards,
alex...

Yes, this will work, as long as the 002 console is in standalone mode, with the proper clocking set up (using the S/PDIF port)

...and the connection is Adat optical, or lightpipe but please don't call it 'fibre-channel'...!
