Default Alesis DM5 midi channels into PT

I have my Alesis Dm5 hooked up to my Digi002. My problem is I cant get the DM5 to assign each trigger to different midi channels.(trigger 1= midi ch#1, trigger 2 =midi ch#2 ect.) I have a bunch of midi tracks in PT, each with different midi channels but only get input on one channel. I can record all the triggers on 1 midi channel, but then I dont have any ability to alter each kick/snare/cymbal's level individual becasue they are all on the same track.
I read the manuals, and spent lots of time googling but got nowhere.

Checking the specifications..

http://www.sonicstate.com/synth/_inc...fm?synthid=218

...it claims the DM5 is mono-timbral (meaning 1 part). That would explain why you can only trigger 1 MIDI channel.

You would need it to be multi-timbral to call up a different sound on a different channel. Bummer, eh?!

Yeah, that is a huge bummer. Why have 16 midi chnnels if you can only use one of them. There is two sets of audio outputs, they could at least have 2 midi channels for the output. eh....

Thanks for clearing that up for me accession.
