Yep. Scrolling is crashing every time. I'm on a M3 Max and thought something was wrong with my system. I really hope there is a fix for this soon. This is really slowing my workflow down.

I'm not seeing this issue.

MacBook Pro M3 Sonoma 14.3 and PT Ult 2023.12.1

I tested it with nothing attached other than the iLok and a trackball. All kinds of crazy scrolling speeds up and down with the trackpad and trackball were all fine for me.

Maybe ya'll have something else attached, a EuCon device maybe, that's contributing to the issue?

I've tested on a 2020 MacBook Pro Intel and a 2023 MacBook Pro M3 Max both with Sonoma 14.3. I've tried with my monitor and external drive attached and then nothing else. Both crash with any kind of "fast" scrolling. It started upon updating to Mac OS 14.3

If you have any suggestions I'd be eternally grateful

Additionally, moving clips to doing fades too quickly (especially during playback). I get CPU overloads during those motions as well a lot of times.

Basically, if I move a little more slowly and don't take action during tracking, I have less problems - but my process is slowed down.
Any update, Ash? I'm having the same exact problem

I unhooked all except ilok on usb3 dongle.
Opened stock singer songwriter pro tools demo session and duplicated the tracks so there were more tracks to scroll thru.
Scrolling wildly with the MacBook trackpad chrashes it every time.

Was all stable on 14.1 with 2023.12 except chrashing a few times on quitting pro tools.

Same day as I updated to Mac OS 14.3 I went in and bought a new SSD and did a Time Machine backup as I had just finished installing all plugins on the new computer and everything was working great. Is it easy to just revert the system back thru Time Machine or should I just hold on for the next update? Always get the feeling of getting the machine dirty when messing with it like that but I’m guessing it’s just in my head haha.

Max and ash

There are 2 bugs already logged for this issue

PT-318532 - Crash when vertical scrolling edit window with many tracks and automation lanes on screen. Sonoma only

and

PT-318441 - Crash scrolling down edit window in large sessions - new in Sonoma 14.3

Hoping both are fixed when we release Sonoma compatibility but I cant guarantee the next release since testing and such are a factor.

There is a KB we have with Sonoma issues known that you all should all should subscribe too..... https://avidtech.my.salesforce-sites...a-Known-Issues

Right hand navigation bar - select subscribe so each time it is updated, you are notified.

Hope this helps peeps....

In my crashpad - I see "Optimized Scrollers is 1"

Is there a way to change that to 0?

Nope as I shouldn't have posted that as its developmental and not for public. I have been told "do NOT use "

Sorry - but we all need to wait for the fixes.

Thanks again. At least it's a known issue.
