Default Timecode Burn-In Media Composer

Hello everyone

A question for the extreme expert Avid heavylifters...

I'm using Avid Media Composer, but I'm posting this question on this forum because I suspect this is a challenge that faces audio post production professionals.. so here goes..

I am searching for a plugin similar to the Avid Media Composer Timecode Burn-In plugin that will not only display the Source Clip Name on the screen but crucially:

Interpret the file name as an on screen caption, in other works '2016_01_01.mov' would becomes

'1st of January, 2016' on the screen

Further more...

the file name: '2016_01_01_13_26_27.mov'

would be able to display the text: '1st of January 2016, 13:26'

with choice of font, font size, position X&Y, shaddow, keyframable with transparency.

1) Does a 3rd party plug in exist that would do something like this?

2) Is there any batch burnin software that could achieve this prior to importing treated clips into the Avid?

3) Any other ideas on workflow?

Any help or pointers much appreciated.

Thanks

Mark

Unfortunately, I have never seen a plugin that would do this, and several of the programs I've used over the years to do QT burn-ins and overlays have ceased to be supported and/or developed.

QT Sync is about the most useful, and it hasn't been updated since 2014. It also doesn't do any of the interpreting that you desire.

I don't think you can do it all in one quick go. That said.

Between QT sync (for adding BITC) and something like EdiPrompt, you could probably create a script that output markers as region names and use EdiPrompt to be an overlay.

Something along those lines might work for you. There are other programs that do overlays for ADR purposes. You might want to look into those.

Maybe go talk to non lethal applications about their video slave 2 software. It might be something their software could do?
Sadly no Avid Video Engine plug-ins yet......
